VW 4Motion & Sprinter Stockton Beach Safari Tour (1 Day)
You asked for it and we have delivered! Great Divide Tours is excited to announce Australia's first ever VW 4Motion & Sprinter Stockton Beach Safari Tour.
During the Christmas break Alex, who is one of my guides and also the host of 4Motion Adventures, took his VW 4Motion Camper-Van onto Stockton Beach to see how these great vehicles would handle the notoriously soft sand.
Alex and his 4Motion peace machine sailed through the soft sand both on the beach and in some of the lower sand dunes without a problem. In fact in his words, he was blown away by just how well the van performed!
So we are offering the opportunity to join Alex for our very special 4Motion & Sprinter Stockton Beach Safari Tag-Along Tour. This is a full day tour, we will meet you at the southern end of Stockton Beach at 9.00am. Alex will provide a pre-trip sand driving safety briefing to help you understand the basics of sand driving including tyre pressures and the deactivation of the traction control system amongst other things, all of which will aid you on the beach.
Alex will be accompanied by one of my other professional guides in a 4WD as back up.
You will enjoy driving along the southern end of the beach which may include some sand dunes (subject to the conditions), visit the location of the famous shipwreck, the Sygna, and enjoy morning tea and lunch somewhere in this magical beach paradise.
Then, provided the tide and weather conditions permit, we will lead you up the beach front for over 20 kilometres of beach driving stopping to view the famous Tin City and old WW2 relics.
The day will finish between 3.30pm and 4.00pm as we exit the beach at its northern end where we will inflate our tyres, perhaps drive to the headland to look back down the beach and generally absorb the fantastic experience that beach driving can give us.
If you ever wondered if you could drive a beach in your 4Motion or Sprinter camper-van, this trip will forever answer those questions. The trip is ideally suited to those vehicles that have a suspension lift, but we understand many do not, so we will assist you to learn what you can do and what you should avoid. Of course the trip plan may change subject to weather and tide movements on the day.
You need to bring your own refreshments and lunch, but of course you will have this on board in your Motel on wheels. We also recommend you bring along any recovery gear you may have and a compressor to pump up your tyres, otherwise there is a petrol station at both potential exit points where you can re-inflate your tyres.
This is a great trip for the family, the kids just love rolling down the steep dunes. We will explain the incredible natural and man made features of the beach as we guide you around this beautiful wonderland. Nothing beats the freedom of beach driving, a must if you are planning a trip to Fraser Island. This is a trip that our customers always remember for all the right reasons.
